This notice covers the Argos marketing website and early-access list, operated by Tech Local in South Africa. Troy manages the list. Contact troy@techlocal.co.za with questions or requests.

What you share

When you sign up, we collect your email address and whether you’re an organiser, guest, photographer or have multiple roles. Organisers can optionally share an event type, approximate month, estimated guest count and country. We also record when you requested updates, this notice’s version, your confirmation or unsubscribe status, and whether our confirmation email was sent.

Why we use it

We use these details to confirm your request, send Argos early-access updates and understand interest in the product. Optional event details help us understand the kinds of events people have in mind. Joining is not a booking or a commitment to pay, and it doesn’t subscribe you to unrelated Tech Local marketing.

No selfies here

This website does not collect selfies, event photographs or face data. The photo-finding application is still in development. Its privacy information and choices will be explained before it becomes available.

Services that help us

Vercel hosts the website, Supabase stores signup information, and Resend delivers confirmation emails. The signup database is hosted in Ireland. Cloudflare runs availability checks. These providers process information to run the service and may process it outside South Africa. Access to the signup list is restricted to authorised operators.

Keeping the website working

We use short-lived, keyed hashes of network addresses and email addresses to limit repeated requests. They are cleared through routine rate-limit cleanup. Hosting providers may also process network and request information for security and service operation. We also retain limited error diagnostics to investigate failures. These exclude form values, email addresses and confirmation tokens. This site does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics. Private previews may require access credentials.

Your choices

Confirming your email activates your subscription. You can unsubscribe using the link in your confirmation email or contact Troy. We keep a minimal suppression record to avoid signing an unsubscribed address back up through an unauthenticated form submission. You can also ask to access, correct or delete your details, or withdraw your request for updates.

How long we keep it

We retain signup details while needed to operate the early-access list and manage your preferences. You can ask us to delete your details at any time. Email confirmation links expire after 24 hours. We do not sell the early-access list.
